Chiara Battistello, PhD, LCSW

About

Welcome to my practice. I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over 20 years of training and experience. I work with adolescents and adults, couples, and lead psychotherapy and DBT groups in my office in Manhattan.

I received my Master’s degree and PhD from New York University. I am a certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) and DBT therapist, and my post-graduate training also includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also have many years of experience practicing and teaching Mindfulness in individual and group settings.

From 2004-2018 I was an Associate in Clinical Psychiatry in the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry where I developed the Columbia Eating Disorders Program and led general psychotherapy, CBT, and DBT groups.

My doctoral research focused on the adjustment to parenthood, mother-infant attachment, and postpartum anxiety and depression. I continue to enjoy working with expecting and new parents, and I am fortunate to be a part of the mental health team at Phoebe, a unique and much-needed online community supporting women in pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.
